Effectively Using Images In Your Blog

If you have your own blog, you’re probably constantly looking for ways to improve it, from the content and format to the layout. And, if you’re like most bloggers, you probably go over these things obsessively, trying to make your blog the most appealing to your readership. And there’s a good reason for all your hard work. After all, if your blog isn’t engaging to your readers, they’ll leave. It’s just that simple.

One way to increase the attractiveness and effectiveness of your blog is to use images and multimedia. This will break up the monotony of your blog, giving your audience something new and exciting. Yes, blogging is supposed to be about writing, but it goes beyond that now days. Now images and multimedia add layers to your blog so that you can connect and relate with your readers on multiple levels.

To begin using images and multimedia effectively on your blog, you need to start by considering what types of media will appeal to your audience. Also, what types will mesh well into your existing blog. While ideally you’ll use several different forms of media on your blog (more of that below), you don’t want to use any that will seem awkward or out of place with what you already have. The goal is to compliment your writing and your posts, not overwhelm them with unneeded media.

Once you’ve decided what media forms to use, you should work on their placements and format and how you title them. Placement is very important, both aesthetically and for readability. You don’t want to have all your images clumped in one place, you want them broken up by your writing. And you don’t want things to be too big or too small. Formatting is almost as important as content. Finally, titles are imperative to how well your blog will do on search engines. You want to use how you title your multimedia to drive traffic to you. So be descriptive and simple. Search engines eat multimedia up and if you use your keywords and phrases properly, you’ll find your blog getting more traffic and ranking higher.

As mentioned above, if you’re going to use images and multimedia, you want to use a variety. Not only will this keep your audience entertained, but it will improve your search engine rankings, as well. With so many blogs and websites right now, those with different types of media rank higher. Some different forms of multimedia you can use are, of course, images, videos, slideshows, audio, and graphs and charts. The more variety you have, the better. Just keep in mind that you don’t want to clutter your blog. Use your images and multimedia carefully.

If you don’t want to get too overwhelmed with the different types of multimedia, stick with images. Of all the forms of multimedia, images are the most effective. While it’s always good to have a variety, images offer functions that other forms don’t, mostly that they can be shared much easier through social media. And, the more you share your multimedia on social media, the more your blog will progress.

  5. Hi
Excellent blog. You are absolutely right a blog should rank high if it has good quality of images, multimedia, quality rich content, good formatting due to which more traffic will come. Formatting is as important as content and images. If we have little content and images that are of not very high quality then due to excellent formatting, the blog will rank.
    Thanks for sharing.
