As a blogger, you usually know what want to write about. The topics are all pre-planned and executed according to your inspiration. But this isn’t always the case. Being a blogger, I have gone through phases when I had been literally stumped about what to write. I know for a fact that other bloggers face this problem too. I was recently faced with this problem a few days back, and I had no clue whatsoever for my blog post. In such a situation, I was seeking help online but I was unable to find anything helpful. So I decided that for this blog post, I would write about how to get yourself going when you are facing a writer’s block.
1. Clarity of Thought
I know it is very hard to focus when you are going through a writer’s block, but clarity of thought is what we all need as writers. We need to arrange our thoughts and clear our mind so the words can flow freely. Listening to a calm song, going for a walk, reading a book or spending some time with a loved one can help you get your act together. Who knows, any one of this activity may even inspire you for an idea to blog about.
2. Think About What You Like or Hate
Once you have managed to clear out your head of all the unnecessary thoughts, you can think about what you topics you like to write about. Something else that can help is to think about topics that you are against or dislike. You may find a list of topics in your mind that you can potentially write on about for hours.
3. Search for the Latest News
It’s always helpful to write on one of the latest happenings in the world. The good part about it is that you already have all the facts, so half the work is done for you. You just have to spin your magic with words and you have yourself a good looking blog post. The latest events are updated almost every minute at top news sites like Google, Yahoo, etc.
4. Think About What People Ask You
If you are a person, you must have many friends, family members, co-workers and acquaintances. Think about something interesting that people always ask you. Think about some topics of discussions that come up most commonly. What people talk or share more often. When you stop to think, you will realize that new ideas are always around you. You just have to reach out and look for them.
5. Remember What Interests You
When you are stumped as a writer, it is always a good idea to write on something you are interested in. The flow of words comes through more easily and you are free to express yourself. Everyone has some interests, wants to learn about something or already knows something that they would like to share with the world. Now is the time to get writing on such a topic. This is probably the best way to power through your block and get to creative writing ways again.
